Layla Chaaraoui

Layla is a senior at Harvard University studying Government, Global Health and Health Policy, and Spanish. On campus, she serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Independent, leading a 150-member staff through weekly editorial publication. She is also a News Department Head for Harvard Radio Broadcasting and the co-chair of the Citizenship Tutoring program at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Institute of Politics. Layla is a competitive dancer and leads Harvard’s Expressions Dance Company and Eleganza Show, emphasizing her creative leadership and collaborative approach.
With cross-platform experience in storytelling, production, branding, and messaging, Layla brings a strong background in media and the arts to her work.
She has worked in global communications and strategy at Global Situation Room, a public affairs agency in Washington D.C., where she helps produce top-charting foreign policy and technology podcasts, secures high-impact media placements, and supports risk and reputation management. Previously, she was a politics intern at WGBH News, NPR’s affiliate station in Boston, Massachusetts, where she reported live from City Hall covering local and national breaking news.
